We now offer Couples/Family Therapy from our offices in Salisbury and Stockbridge.

Dr Steve Holmes

I qualified as a Clinical Psychologist in 2001 and have been working since then to support individuals with a wide range of emotional difficulties including Depression and Anxiety in their many forms as well as unwanted physical symptoms such as Chronic Pain, M.E. / Chronic Fatigue and Long Covid.

I have worked in a variety of NHS services, some of which were focused on emotional well-being and others on pain. In my last NHS post I led a multidisciplinary team within Southampton’s well known Chronic Pain Service, before leaving to set up an independent service.

Working within an independent service means that I can focus more on shaping an approach to best suit each individual and on offering a specialist service quickly.  I value spending time with people I work with to foster a warm, relaxed and solid working relationship to enable us to ascertain key goals and a shared treatment approach as swiftly and effectively as possible.  Each session with me is likely to involve discussion,  prioritising key issues, sharing an understanding of cause and effect, drawing and sometimes even physical movement to explore understanding and alleviating distress.

I have completed significant additional training in a variety of well researched approaches including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (Accredited CBT therapist) and Mindfulness Based Therapies (PGDip) as well as having been trained as a Breathworks (Mindfulness) teacher. I have also undertaken significant additional training in Schema Focussed Therapy.  All of my training post qualification has been with the aim of improving and honing skills to offer support and change for people experiencing more complex difficulties.

As the Director of The Salisbury Practice Ltd and The Salisbury Practice Stockbridge Ltd, I am also responsible for supporting the Clinical Team and I’m very proud to be working alongside such committed and talented Practitioners. I continue to participate in regular training and education as well as frequent supervision with colleagues.

I have two daughters and a tiny dog and live in Salisbury.  I spend non working time dog walking, with friends, reading, and learning to garden.

My fees are currently £110 per session.
